Apples come to my mind for September, but that won't last like a pumpkin does. I went to the Martha Stewart site for some ideas, but I came back empty-handed. I guess I could make some kind of very small flower arrangement and then hollow an apple and stick it down in there...again, that won't last very long. How long will fresh apples last non-refrigerated? A week? Or less? Here are some pictures I found that could be a guide for me. But, I love ribbon...would ribbon kill the simpicity of it? Any input here is welcome.

You are so funny! I actually have a post in the edit phase that I have written on ideas for teachers!! Your teacher will love you!!! What if Blake just brought her an apple & some pretty flowers from your yard? I baked bread for the first day of school. With so many in school, I have to budget because it all adds up so quickly!
As I mentioned before, can I be B's teacher? I really like your apple idea and think it will add some flair to a desk. I think you could get away with a fun, school oiented ribbon too. Perhaps one that looks like a ruler; check Michael's!
Those water bottle cozys are too cute! I may have to get some of those for a couple of very dear Sunday school teachers that my Littles will be leaving behind as they move up a class.
The apple ideas are lovely, too. If I were a classroom teacher, that would make me smile. :) I may have to copy those ideas for a fall center piece!
I love all your ideas! You're saving me hours of anguish trying to figure out teacher gifts.
did you take the apple vase to the teacher?
